Welcome to my blog! I’m Allison, a Registered Dietitian living and exploring in our nation’s Capitol, Washington, DC.

I am originally from New York but made my way down to DC for school in 2010. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Syracuse University, completed my dietetic internship at Penn State and have my Master’s in Health Promotion from American University.

After graduating I began working at NuWeights, a nutrition counseling company in the DC Metro Area. I counseled patients on healthy eating habits, helping to decode nutrition information and diet myths. I learned so much through this position and loved counseling patients and working with this amazing group.

I then became the Dietitian for Georgetown University from 2013-2015. I worked with students and various organizations on campus to provide nutrition education and provide healthy options at the University Dining Hall.

georgetown-university-mascotI currently work at American University as an instructor for their Nutrition Education Master’s program and see clients on the side at Capital Center for Psychotherapy and Wellness in DC. I also recently launched my own business, Allison Marco Nutrition Consulting. Please visit my website to see the services that I offer and to set up a time to meet!

When I’m not at work you can find me cooking, baking, running, dreaming about getting a puppy and exploring DC and the surrounding areas. There is so much to see and do here, you can never get bored!

My philosophy is everything in moderation. I believe in finding a healthy balance instead of eliminating food groups or depriving yourself of your favorite foods. I also believe that nutrition isn’t just about food, but your entire lifestyle as well. You can’t have a healthy body without a healthy mind. Follow me to learn how to eat well and live well with a dose of my DC adventures on the side.

There is a lot of information available on the internet about nutrition and healthy eating that can be confusing or untrue. I hope that you will use my blog as a resource to help debunk nutrition myths and clear up any misconceptions. How you decide to use the information I provide is completely up to you. Customize and experiment to fit your needs. Have it Your Weigh.
